Organ and Violin, Midweek Lunchtime Recital
at St Jude’s Church Bowral
Wednesday 16 June at 1.15pm.
Organist Allan Beavis and student violinist Christian Antoniac will perform at the Midweek Lunchtime Recital at St Jude’s Church Bowral on Wednesday 16 June commencing at 1.15pm.
The program begins and ends with music from the French Romantic organ school: Guilmant’s “Grand Choeur alla Handel” and Widor’s “Marche Pontificale”. Two less robust works complete the program: a Suite by the
eighteenth century English composer Michael Festing arranged for organ by Sir George Thalben-Ball and the famous “Albinoni Adagio”.
This work was formerly regarded as being arranged by the twentieth century Italian Musicologist Remo Giazotto from a fragment of music by the Baroque Venetian composer Tomaso Albinon. It is now, however, considered to be an original work by Giozotto himself. The performance will be an arrangement for violin and organ with violinist Christian Antoniac, a year 9 student at Chevalier College.
