RETIRED MEN’S GROUP and SALT GROUP

The ‘Retired Men’s Group’ (RMG) is open to ALL men.   It is mostly made up of retired men but all men are welcome.   Current membership is over 50 men. Breakfast is served before the meeting at 9 am sharp for those who want it.
About  20 to 25 men find that time of fellowship most worthwhile.

The RMG meetings follow this pattern
10 am  Morning Tea, followed by a half hour segment of Corporate Worship segment in which there is a short biblical message that is challenging and encouraging  The singing of the men would rival any Welsh choir!

10.45 am there is a Speaker.   These are chosen either from the RMG men, who tell ‘My Story’, or and outside speaker of special interest.   The men of the RMG have varied backgrounds in both church and business or professional life so their ‘stories’ are most interesting and informative.

12 noon close

RMG meets 10 am to 12 noon in the Church Hall ,
on the second Friday of each alternate month.
(February, April, June, August, October and December ).

The RMG also organises social events.   This year these have included a trip by train to Sydney to see the ‘two Queens’ when they were in Sydney harbour at the same time;   a visit to the Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum at Albion Park;   and a Golf Day at Bowral Golf Course.   In December each year there is a Christmas Lunch which both men and women attend to celebrate Christmas together.

Coming Meetings:

Friday 10 June guest Speaker, Youth Minister at St Jude’s, Larry Mullan.
He will speak on ‘My Vision for the Youth and how the Senior Men can Support and Encourage that Ministry’.   There will be time for questions and discussion after his address.

Friday 12 August guest Speaker will be Bishop Peter Hayward, the Bishop of Wollongong and our Regional Bishop.

RMG ‘Singing Group’ is led by Peter Verco.   This group sings at the 10 am Church Service on the 4th Sunday of each month and on special occasions.

SALT GROUP -just over 20 of the men from the RMG also meet for the Salt Group. The word ‘SALT’ stands for ‘Sharing And Learning Together’.

The ‘SALT Group’ is also open to all men.   Its aim is to help us as men to grow in the knowledge of our Christian faith and in our experience of living for Christ day by day.

SALT Group meets 2 pm in the Church Hall.
on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month.

Introducing God

Most of us believe there is a God, however . . . . . .
"If there is a God, how can I know what he is like and how might I relate to him?"

To have a relationship with God you need to be introduced. Introducing God is about being able to have a relationship with God.

The course is held in a relaxed friendly environment over a cup of coffee, with a DVD presentation and discussion.

Courses are held on one night a week for 7 weeks with the first night being an introductory night and the course concludes with a Saturday (day) session.

Contact the Church Office regarding the next course.

Fellowship and Bible study groups

The Bible has a central position of authority in all the doings of St Jude’s and as such we love to get together and study, unpack, discuss and submit to God’s incredible story of saving people through Jesus.

We meet at many different times and places throughout the week in order to make the Bible available to all who want to live a life with Jesus. There are more than 30 Bible study groups associated with St Jude’s meeting and praying in homes, halls and retirement villages throughout the highlands.

These include a women’s group with a crèche for pre school-age children (Wednesday 10:30 am – 12pm), evening groups for men and working women, a youth group on Friday nights and numerous mixed groups.

For details regarding a particular group or time contact:

As a part of the body of Christ, we believe the Bible to be the authentic words of God. Not simply powerful literature but living words capable, through the power of God’s Holy Spirit, of transforming lives.
